BIO:

My Dad is my artistic inspiration. He also is responsible for my being somewhat of a techie. Growing up, he was always drawing or painting, or working on cars, or designing some engineering device.

Fast Forward to High School when I learned to print from color negatives and slides before I learned Black and White photography. My first prints out of the darkroom were awful. I realized that seeing and correcting color was a skill, and not an easy one at that. I worked hard at learning to see and correct color when printing color negatives and slides, and eventually learned black and white photography spending much of my time in high school and collage shooting everything I saw and printing in my darkroom.

I took my interest in photography and image making and got a BA in Film Production and minored in Advertising (So I can learn to do something with good looking movies and pictures)

Now, 20 years later, after a huge amount of technical experience mixed with the opportunities to work on National campaigns, I've taken the leap to a life of self employment. My years in San Francisco allowed me to work on some really fun projects and learn a lot from really smart printers, retouchers and designers. My years at the mannequin company as a designer and photographer offered more experience in visual merchandising, apparel fit, and apparel design than I could ever imagine. I took that experience to Pearl Izumi where I worked as Art Director and Interactive Manager, working closely with the merchandising teams. Ultimately I brought product photography in-house for more control and quicker turn around knowing that good mannequins are critical to a good looking product image.

Seeing that product design and development is done in a 2 dimensional space, I thought it would be really helpful and fun to create a 3D modeling process for product design. This combined with product industry experience is where I'm at. Product Photography, clipping, "hollow mannequin" builds and critical color matching are some things I can offer. 3D modeling in Development,I feel, would enhance the design process so check out some of my renderings or call me and I can show you the process.

My desire to create and learn keeps me working toward better ways to produce and create images so I have some other types of images in my galleries.

Please contact me if you have questions or would like to discuss how we might be able to work together to better show your products and increase sales.

Sincerely,
Jarrod
